Real examples help show how SLW Engineering approaches breakdowns: understand the symptom, find the actual cause and get production back into a reliable operating condition.
The production-line sealer developed a film-feed problem that caused the plastic to jam and interrupted normal operation. The same issue was also affecting the side-sealing process, so the fault could not be treated as a simple film-alignment problem.
Loose fasteners, wear and developing mechanical issues can start small but quickly become lost production time. A well-targeted preventative-maintenance inspection is designed to spot this type of deterioration before it develops into an avoidable breakdown.
WHY SLW ENGINEERING
SLW Engineering combines an electrical installation background with hands-on multi-skilled maintenance experience across demanding manufacturing environments, including food and pharmaceutical production. The focus is not simply getting a machine running again — it is understanding the fault, communicating clearly and helping reduce the chance of the same issue returning.
SLW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Alongside hands-on engineering support, SLW Engineering is developing a production monitoring and OEE system around real factory-floor problems. The aim is to give operators, engineers and managers a clearer view of what the line is doing, where production time is being lost and which recurring issues deserve attention.
OEE combines Availability, Performance and Quality to give a single view of how effectively a production process is running. Rather than relying on end-of-shift figures alone, the SLW concept is being developed to make that information visible while the batch is actually running.
This is an in-development SLW system and the final specification may evolve during trials and pilot installs.
